At the age of 2, when Julio Lupo learned how to put the needle on a record, he remained forever involved with music. Back in highschool, Julio had realized that he had the ability to write verses, and he combined it with his love for music, and then he began to write songs. After many failed efforts, trying to form a band, Julio decided to stay alone, and record his own compositions by himself.
Recording with no professional stuff, in a friend's home, Julio began the recording of his first songs, but obviously, the sound was terribly bad. Then, Julio went to a recording studio, and there, he recorded some songs that, after some time, formed his first album, called "Songs for Ely", in 1981, dedicated to a friend who gave him strength and support. The entired album was recorded only by Julio and his guitar, in an hour and a half. The results were no good, and then Julio just released a limited quantity of copies.

In the same year, Julio released a single with one song of this album, in a new version, with a couple of musicians: "Lonely rider / A little song to Andreita". In the A side, Julio played all the guitars and keyboards, and in the flip side, he played all instruments. This song was dedicated to his goddaughter, and this song was the first that Julio sang, in his own language: Spanish. After this, Julio began to record songs with more musicians, looking for his own style, even when he was influenced by the sound of CCR and John Fogerty.
In 1984, his brother died in an accident with his motorcycle, and Julio wrote a song for him, called "Wrote a song for you" (Escribí una canción para vos). Julio decided to keep the song for himself, but a group of friends listened to it, and push Julio to the radio stations with the demo.

The song was an instant hit, and became a number one in some radio rankings of popularity by this time. After this song, Julio recorded more songs, and one of them, "Rockin' down the streets" (Haciendo rock en las calles), became a hit too, givin' him another number one in the radio charts, without a new record released.

This record, including those songs, called "Devils and Angels" (Demonios y Angeles) was released just in 1992, by a local little label, having very good sales. But the record company gave no much money to Julio, and he decided to form his own little and personal label, "Animal Records" (His friends calls Julio "Animal" as a nickname). Julio began to record more songs for his 3rd album: "Studio Rat" (Rata de Estudio). The recording of the album was a mess. Julio had to change the recording studio in the middle of the sessions, for another smaller one. The musicians abandoned the project, and even Julio by himself had to make the covers design. "Studio Rat", released in 1996, have good songs, but as an album had not the same quality as Devils and Angels.

Soon, Julio found another recording studio, and began to work on his 4th album, "Bestia Solitaria" (Lonesome beast). Released in 1998, Bestia Solitaria was a success in sales and critic for Julio. The reason was that the album included a song dedicated to Tom Fogerty, the rhythm guitarist of CCR, called "Clearwater tears". Lots of fan through the internet, in the world bought the album to have this tribute, by an artist from a small country of South America.

In August, 2001, Julio released a new album called "Rediscovered", which contains 12 songs. 10 of this songs are versions in English of a selection of songs from the other albums. The other two, was recording with a Canadian musician called Bruno Berthold, another well known CCR fan. One of this songs is a new version of "Clearwater tears" and the other one is a brand new song composed by Bruno and Julio, called "Goodbye rain". The curious thing in it, is that Julio and Bruno never met each other personally. Bruno played all the instruments and record his parts in Canada, and Julio did his vocal parts in Uruguay.
For the year 2002, Julio is planning to record a new album, and a couple of videos, including the video of "Clearwater tears".
